Ways to Beat the Summer Heat

Summer is in its full glory at least in our part of the world
and this scorching weather is quite hard on our bodies and our moods. High
soaring temperatures can make you feel drained and tired, making it difficult
for you to work. But don’t let the temperature get you down. You have to stay
productive and keep your cool even if it feels like the sun is out to get you.
Here are some simple no-sweat ways to cool off this summer.
Stay Hydrated
Hydration during the warm months is crucial. When you are
sweating a lot of drinking enough liquid becomes even more important. Whenever
your body heats up from physical activity or the hot weather outside, your the internal air conditioner turns on and your begin to sweat and remember now that
your air conditioner is using its coolant (your sweat), it is important to
refill the tank by drinking lots of fluid especially water, as it is much
easier to keep refilling it.
Dodge the Sun
There are certain times of day before the sun rises and
after it sets which are relatively cooler hours. Try utilizing that time to run
your errands head out for a walk or water your plants. However if possible
avoid staying directly under the sun for more than three hours. Also, wear light
colors and breathe able fabrics such as cotton and linen, especially on those
scorching days.
Breath like a Yogi
In summers doing a few minutes of yogic breathing can lower
your body temperature curl your tongue by pulling both sides upward toward the
middle, then breathe in through your mouth. Hold your breath, and slowly exhale
through your nose. Repeat five to 10 times. A few minutes of deep breathing and
relaxation will go a long way.
Aloe Vera Spray
You are probably well aware of the fact that aloe vera
naturally soothes sunburn and its cooling properties also help in beating the
heat. All you need to do is combine equal amounts of rose water and aloe vera
juice in a spray bottle and shake well. Add some distilled water and spritz on
the face or on the body, whenever you need to cool down. Besides you can make a
cooling mist by combining one teaspoon of aloe vera one cucumber a squeeze of
lemon and one tablespoon of rose water. Put them in the blender for one
minute. Strain the juice and pour the liquid in the bottle and spray over
yourself.
Pulse points
Did you know that there are numerous pulse/ pressure points
on your body that can be used as cooling spots when in contact with cold water?
Try running cool water or put a bottle with ice-cold water on points like your
feet wrists and temples.
Cool as a Cucumber
Keep a cucumber in your fridge and cut a couple of slices to
soothe your eyes after a long summer day. It will not only reduce puffiness and
dark circles around your eye but will also bring down the overall temperature
of your body.
Go for Smaller Meals
The more you eat the more heat your body produces. During
the hot weather tries to consume small meals throughout the day to limit the metabolic process that creates heat within.
Take more Showers
When nothing seems to work take frequent cool showers to
keep your body temperature down. There is nothing better than a cold shower in
the midst of a sweltering summer day. It does not have to be an epic water-wasting shower just a quick rinse will do the trick.
